MEDELLIN, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Former Colombia, Ecuador and Panama boss Hernan Gomez has reached a deal to coach Colombian first division side Independiente Medellin for the next two years.

The 64-year-old replaces Humberto Sierra, who was sacked after the club's season ended with a 2-1 loss to Aguilas Doradas on Wednesday.

"Welcome, Hernan Dario Gomez," Independiente Medellin said in a statement posted on social media. "It's an honor to have you in our family again. We wish you all the best and love you a lot."

It will be Gomez's second spell as Medellin's head coach, following his 67-match period in charge in 2012 and 2013.

Gomez is one of only three people to have led at least three different national teams to a FIFA World Cup, having achieved the feat with Colombia (1998), Ecuador (2002) and Panama (2018). Enditem
