TOKYO, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Cuban boxer Roniel Iglesias claimed the gold medal in the men's welterweight at Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, defeating the top seed of the tournament Pat McCormack of Britain.

The four-time Olympian Iglesias, who won gold at London Olympics, delivered more clean punches in the first round, making him ahead on four out of five judges.

McCormack was knocked to the ground soon after the beginning of the second round, and all five judges scored 10-9 in favor of Iglesias. The 32-year-old Cuban marched on in the last round and won the game by a unanimous decision 5-0.

Iglesias secured a spot for the Tokyo Olympic through the IOC Boxing Task Force rankings.

Ireland's Aidan Walsh and Andrei Zamkovoi of the Russian Olympic Committee shared the bronze medals. Enditem
