MANILA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The foreign portfolio investments for April in the Philippines yielded net outflows of 374 million U.S. dollars, the Philippine central bank said Thursday.

"This is lower compared to the net outflows of 541 million U.S. dollars recorded in March 2021," the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said in a statement.

The BSP said Britain, the United States, Luxembourg, Singapore and Norway were the top five investor countries for the month, with a combined share to total at 84.7 percent.

Developments during the month included investor reaction to easing inflation, contraction of the country's gross domestic product in 2020, the extension of local quarantine measures, progress of the government's vaccination program, and the continued rise of infections in the country, the BSP said.
