Mongolia's COVID-19 tally rises to 172,069
ULAN BATOR, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's COVID-19 tally rose to 172,069 after 972 more local infections were recorded over the past 24 hours, the country's health ministry said Saturday.
A total of 5,758 samples were tested across the country in the past day.
Meanwhile, five more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the past day, bringing the national tally to 873, the ministry said in a statement.
The Asian country began a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign in late February, aiming to cover at least 60 percent of its 3.3-million population.
So far, 61.4 percent of the country's total population has been fully vaccinated against the virus, according to the ministry. Enditem
