Bangladesh's daily COVID-19 cases fall below 5,000

DHAKA, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh reported 4,966 new COVID-19 cases and 114 new deaths on Wednesday, making the tally at 14,77,930 and death toll at 25,627 the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 33,640 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Wednesday across Bangladesh.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 13,89,571 including 7,808 new recoveries Wednesday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.73 percent and the current recovery rate is 94.02 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 16,230 on July 28 and the highest number of deaths of 264 twice on Aug. 5 and 10. Enditem
