Vietnam reports 8,616 new COVID-19 cases, 1,035,138 in total
HANOI, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam recorded 8,616 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, including 8,603 locally transmitted and 13 imported, according to its Ministry of Health.
Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,165 in Ho Chi Minh City, 660 in An Giang province, and 616 in Binh Duong province.
The newly reported coronavirus infections in the Southeast Asian country brought the total tally to 1,035,138, with 23,183 deaths, said the ministry. Nationwide, 864,516 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, an increase of 1,205 from Sunday.
Nearly 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including over 35 million second doses, have been administered, according to the ministry.
As of Monday, the country has registered over 1,030,000 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said. Enditem
